Chairman of the Supervisory Board, head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering IAO at the University of Stuttgart

As head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering, Wilhelm Bauer supervises a research organization with around 700 employees. He is responsible for research and implementation projects in the fields of innovation research, technology management, life and work in the future, and smarter cities. Furthermore, he is an advisor in politics and business, a member of the European Commission’s high-level expert group on artificial intelligence and a co-leader of the working group on work/qualification and man-machine interaction of the “Plattform Lernende Systeme” – Germany’s platform for artificial intelligence. Wilhelm Bauer has written more than 500 scientific and technical publications and was honoured by the state of Baden-Württemberg as a “day after tomorrow doer”.
